About Us
We firmly believe that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) serve as significant obstacles to civic engagement, particularly for our target demographic. This demographic encompasses individuals grappling with various forms of oppression, racism, mass incarceration, generational violence, poverty, substance use disorder, and housing instability. Recognizing the profound impact of ACEs, we are committed to dismantling these barriers and empowering our community to overcome adversity, advocate for systemic change, and actively participate in shaping policy and law
We do this through five main initiatives:
Political Education: we have developed comprehensive political educational programs that empower individuals with knowledge about the political system, and provides them with the tools to engage in the political process and advocate for their rights.
Community Organizing: We engage in community organizing efforts that bring individuals and families together to advocate for their rights and address systemic issues that affect their lives. This involves organizing rallies, protests, and other actions that raise awareness and create momentum for change.
Family Empowerment: We offer workshops and support services that focus on repairing families and creating a sense of empowerment through communication, conflict resolution, and relationship building.
leadership/Youth Development: We offer leadership/youth development programs that provide people with the skills they need to succeed in school, work, and life. This includes mentorship programs, leadership training, and after-school programs.
Resource Connection: Our resource center provides access to educational and employment opportunities, as well as other resources that can help individuals and families overcome systemic barriers.
We Are Revolutionary Community Empowerment Programs:
T.R.A.I.L.O. (The Real Adventure is Located Outside): is a component that organizes youth trips to introduce them to diverse career opportunities and engage them in conversations with politicians. There is also a Revolutionary Camp, which is a leadership development and political education component, offering essential leadership skills and engaging participants in political discussions.
Legal Eagle: is a court watch program that equips youth with a deep understanding of the legal system, their rights, and the political process. It empowers youth with legal literacy and political awareness, enabling them to navigate their communities and the legal system confidently.
Community Healing: Revolutionary Arts is an arts component for adults, children, and youth. It harnesses the power of art to illuminate pressing social issues from the perspective of those directly impacted, providing a creative outlet for expression, instilling confidence, and contributing to progress through artistic projects. As part of this component, War facilitates an annual well-being conference called Sage the City, an organized space for healing from intergenerational trauma. It provides rest, repair, and restoration tools, fostering resilience through meditation, mindfulness practices, and addressing ACEs.
Mobile Crisis Unit, called The Capital Region Community Support Network (CRCSN):, redefines community policing by empowering peers and community members to provide crucial crisis assistance. It provides immediate crisis intervention and access to a crisis hotline to bolster community safety and resilience through efficient and compassionate support. Community members act as peer advocates and collaborate with response units and mental health (Lukee to share names) organizations to implement strategies that engage peers and residents to play a meaningful role in alternative community policing practices.
Mutual Aid: provides immediate emergency assistance to families in crisis by providing resources such as food, clothing, transportation, and other essentials
